Police have identified the individuals discovered deceased in a Greenock residence.

Police are categorizing the deaths of Neil and Alison McLaughlin as ‘unexplained’ but have not found any evidence to indicate the involvement of others.

A man and woman, identified as Neil and Alison McLaughlin, were discovered deceased at a property in Greenock. The police received a report expressing concern for the individuals inside and subsequently arrived at Banff Road in the Inverclyde town at approximately 5.05pm on Friday.

Investigations are currently being conducted by the police. DI Gordon Smith stated, “We extend our sympathies to Neil and Alison’s family and friends during this extremely difficult time. Special support is being provided to their loved ones as per their request for privacy. The deaths are currently considered unexplained and we are actively investigating to determine the complete circumstances. At this moment, there is no indication of anyone else being connected to the deaths, and there is no risk to the general public. While our investigation continues, a police presence will be maintained in the area, and anyone with concerns should approach our officers.”

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal, as stated by the police.
