Mother stands trial for murder following the death of her infant daughter in a park in Leeds.

Hayley Macfarlane, aged 39, did not enter a plea in relation to the death of her five-month-old daughter Evelyn, following an incident in Woodhouse Moor park. Macfarlane, who is from Barnsley, appeared briefly before magistrates in Leeds on Saturday.

On Friday, West Yorkshire police confirmed that Macfarlane had been charged with the murder of her daughter Evelyn. The incident occurred at Woodhouse Moor park in Leeds. A woman had alerted the police at 5.44pm on Wednesday, reporting a baby in a critical condition in an area of the park situated at the junction of Clarendon Road and Moorland Road.

Police officers attended the scene and the five-month-old girl was transported to the hospital by ambulance for urgent medical care. However, she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. A forensic examination was conducted at the scene, and the investigation is being led by the homicide and major inquiry team of the West Yorkshire police.
