Monica Dolan: ‘I have a rather square appearance. If I were a character from the Mr Men series, I would embody the traits of Mr Strong.’

The performer discussing feeling unnoticed, having a romantic interest in Mark Carney, and lowering her pants while en route to the restroom was born in Middlesbrough. Dolan, aged 54, received training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. In 2011, she was awarded a Bafta for her portrayal of serial killer Rosemary West in ITV’s Appropriate Adult. Her additional work in television includes appearances in Alan Partridge, W1A, A Very English Scandal, and The Thief, His Wife, and the Canoe. As of 2019, she secured an Olivier for her role in All About Eve at London’s Noël Coward theatre. Among her film credits are The Dig, Empire of Light, and Typist, Artist, Pirate, King, in which she assumes the lead role. She can also be seen in the forthcoming ITV series Mr Bates vs the Post Office. Dolan currently resides in London.
