Luke Littler, the dart prodigy, came into existence during the year 2007, when the world was bustling with life.

An English player, aged 16, was born into an era of Nintendo Wiis, Amy Winehouse, and the all-new iPhone.

The 16-year-old darts protege Luke Littler is only two victories away from becoming the world champion after a dominating performance, winning 5-1 against Brendan Dolan from Northern Ireland in the semi-finals of the PDC World Darts Championship.

Let’s take a look at how the world has changed since Littler was born on January 21, 2007.

At that time, Tony Blair was the prime minister of the Labour government and was engaged in debates in the House of Commons with the leader of the opposition, David Cameron.

In the United States, George W Bush was beginning his final year as the president. Barack Obama was about three weeks away from announcing his presidential candidacy.

Jacques Chirac was the president of France, while Angela Merkel had just started her 16-year term as the German chancellor.

Mika’s song “Grace Kelly” was sitting at number one on the official UK singles chart. This marked Mika’s first and last single to reach that position, as it had recently dethroned Leona Lewis.

Amy Winehouse’s album “Back to Black” was leading the country’s album chart, nearly four and a half years before the singer’s untimely death at the age of 27.

In the UK movie box office, “Rocky Balboa” was at the top spot, with Sylvester Stallone returning to portray one of his most iconic roles. Just a couple of days after Littler’s birth, Martin Scorsese’s film “The Departed” won the best picture and best director Oscars at the 79th Academy Awards. Helen Mirren won the best actress award for her role in “The Queen,” and Forest Whitaker won the best actor award for “The Last King of Scotland.”

On January 1, 2007, Raymond van Barneveld, a Dutch darts player who later became one of Littler’s opponents, defeated England’s Phil Taylor in the PDC World Darts Championship. Van Barneveld made history by being the first player to reach the final of both the BDO World Championship and the PDC World Championship in consecutive years. He had switched darts organizations on February 15, 2006.

In football, on the day of Littler’s birth, Arsenal won 2-1 against Manchester United, with goals from Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie for Arsenal and a goal from Wayne Rooney for Manchester United. Manchester United, who were leading the league at that time, went on to win the title that season.

On January 9, 2007, Apple revealed its first smartphone, the iPhone. However, it was not released in the US until June. The iPhone quickly became Apple’s most successful product, and subsequent generations propelled Apple to become the world’s most profitable company. The Nintendo Wii had already been released the month before Littler was born.
