Japan releases significant tsunami alert for coastal prefecture following a 7.6 magnitude earthquake.

A warning has been issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency for the Ishikawa prefecture, as well as Niigata and Toyama. According to NHK, a major tsunami warning was declared in Ishikawa prefecture due to a series of earthquakes, one of which had a preliminary magnitude of 7.6. The Japan Meteorological Agency also issued a tsunami warning for coastal regions of Niigata and Toyama prefectures. NHK TV cautioned that waves of water could reach heights of up to 5 meters and advised people to evacuate to high ground or the top of a nearby building as quickly as possible. NHK further reported that a tsunami measuring 1.2 meters reached Wajima city in Ishikawa, while another measuring 40cm was recorded in Kashizawaki city. There are currently no reports of damage. South Korea’s meteorological agency stated that sea levels along its eastern province of Gangwon might rise following the earthquakes.
