India take control over England with the bat early in the women’s Test despite an unusual run-out.

England’s bowlers were left frustrated on England’s first day of Test match cricket in India after India scored 410 runs, despite losing seven wickets throughout the day. India comfortably scored runs during the afternoon and evening sessions, achieving their highest ever innings total in a home Test match. Yastika Bhatia, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Satheesh Shubha played important roles in India’s strong performance. England tried their best with the new ball, but Deepti Sharma remained untroubled and ended the day unbeaten on 60. Overall, the England team remained positive and faced the challenges together, acknowledging that it is difficult to prepare for a Test match until you play it. India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur had a bizarre dismissal on 49, being run out in a similar fashion to a previous incident in the World Cup semi-final. England missed opportunities to dismiss Bhatia early in her innings, but eventually made a breakthrough. Rodrigues and Shubha made impressive contributions on their Test debuts, with Shubha scoring 69 runs before lunch. Sophie Ecclestone took one wicket, while Bell and Cross also made successful contributions. Despite England’s efforts, India dominated the first day with a strong batting performance.
