Hidden camera captures nightly activities of tidy mouse in man’s shed

A diligent rodent was discovered by a photographer to be organizing his workbench, after noticing that his items were mysteriously moving around.

A video has been recorded showing a mouse tidying up a man’s shed almost every night for a duration of two months.

Rodney Holbrook, a wildlife photographer from Builth Wells in Powys, Wales, set up a night vision camera on his workbench to investigate the situation. The footage captured is reminiscent of the animated movie Ratatouille from 2007, where a rodent secretly cooks at a restaurant.

The 75-year-old Holbrook stated, “It has been going on for months. I call him Welsh Tidy Mouse. At first, I noticed that some food that I was putting out for the birds was ending up in some old shoes I was storing in the shed, so I set up a camera.”

The night vision footage revealed the apparently conscientious rodent collecting clothes pegs, corks, nuts, and bolts, and placing them in a tray on Holbrook’s workbench. Even after Holbrook tried leaving different objects out to test if the mouse could move them, the creature was undeterred and was even observed carrying cable ties to the tray.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw that the mouse was tidying up,” Holbrook exclaimed. “He moved all sorts of things into the tray, bits of plastic, nuts, and bolts. I don’t bother to tidy up now, as I know he will take care of it. I leave things out and they are put back in their place by morning. Ninety-nine times out of 100, the mouse will tidy up throughout the night.”

A similar incident occurred in 2019 when a viral video surfaced, showing a mouse “stockpiling” items in a man’s shed near Bristol. Steve Mckears set up a camera after screws and metal objects repeatedly reappeared in a box containing bird feed. The footage captured the mouse placing screws and other metal objects into the container.
