Four-year-old boy succumbs to knife wounds in east London

According to the Metropolitan police, a woman aged 41 has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder after an incident in Hackney. In Hackney, east London, a four-year-old boy has tragically died from knife injuries at a residence. The police have initiated a murder investigation in response to the incident. Authorities were alerted to the welfare of a child at an address on Montague Road in Hackney at approximately 11pm on Wednesday. Upon entering the property, officers discovered the four-year-old boy with knife wounds. Despite being taken to the hospital, the boy later succumbed to his injuries. The woman, who was known to the boy and aged 41, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.

The Metropolitan police have stated that they are not searching for any additional suspects related to the incident. The boy’s family has been notified by the police. DCS James Conway emphasized the distressing nature of this incident and assured that they are collaborating with Hackney council and the local school community to provide support to those affected. The homicide team is leading the investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the child’s death. While there is no broader public safety concern, extra officers will be present in the area considering the impact on the community.

Local politicians, including Diane Abbott and Meg Hillier, expressed their shock and condolences regarding the incident. The Metropolitan police have clarified that the 41-year-old woman, who was acquainted with the boy, was arrested at the scene and is currently being held on suspicion of murder.
