Another Russian artist apprehended for provocative act involving a sock on the genital area.

A Russian singer has been apprehended for performing in front of a concert crowd with only a sock covering his genitals, following the imprisonment of a rapper for the same act at a party in Moscow which caused a nationwide controversy.

Maxim Tesli, the lead vocalist of a band called Shchenki (The Puppies), was detained at an airport in St Petersburg, as reported by the state news agency Tass. According to the local news outlet Fontanka, he has been officially charged with minor acts of hooliganism.

Last month, Nikolai Vasilyev, a rapper known as Vacio, was sentenced to 15 days in jail and fined 200,000 roubles ($2,182) for promoting “non-traditional sexual relations” when he used a sock to conceal his genitals at a “nearly naked” party held at a nightclub in Moscow.

This incident faced severe backlash during a time when Russia is involved in a conflict in Ukraine and the authorities are promoting a socially conservative agenda. Many of the celebrities who attended the party have publicly expressed their regrets and apologies.

It is uncertain whether Tesli’s decision to perform in such a manner was meant as a show of support for Vacio.

Russian media has reported that the rapper’s initial sentence of 15 days was extended by an additional 10 days, and he has received a summons to report to a military recruitment office.
